Title: Vredestein ultrac sessanta - mobile fitting ?
Post by: qureshia on 16 January 2010, 09:40
Want 4 new tyres.

Local garage wants £540 to supply and fit 4 VUS - I can buy 4 from camskill for £340

But cant really be bothered getting them shipped to my house and then get local garage to sort out

Just checked out e tyres, black circle etc and then don’t appear to list VUS

Anyone recommend a mobile fitter that can get hold of them and fit at a decent price ?

Cheers

Why don't you buy them mail order from Camskills, and then get them fitted and balanced locally ?

By the way the Sessantas seem to get excellent reviews everywhere

Let us know how you find them once all sorted

£540 is dear for the vredesteins, was just about to buy 4 for my car when I heard about the new Michelin PS3's. Got 4 fitted for £580 all in from ProTyre in Gloucester, which is quite a bit more than the vredesteins, but I'm hoping they are a better all round tyre.

I love my Vredresteins, can get them for £91 each at Flintstone tyres in Parkgate Southampton.

Transformed the road manners compared to the Dunlops prior. Same Reviews as the more expensive ps2's and a third less in cost.

Michelin are quoting massive wet handling improvements ... http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/news/new-michelin-pilot-sport-3-ps3-232.php

That alone clinched it for me - yes, they are £200 more expensive than the Vreds, but when it comes to an emergency situation, I'd like the re-assurance that I've got the best all round tyre on my car - £200 is nothing compared to even a minor bump!

In the first 300 miles I've noticed they are quieter than my PS2 Exaltos and provide a lot more grip in the wet (but my PS2's were shot).

Bought from mytyres £459 full fitted

Like the idea of not having to deal with delivery myself and one company being responsible for supply and fitting (I know it is sub contracted out by mytres but I pay them)

Now fitted  - Drive great, much quiter and less wheel spin

The tyres are asymmetrical, it therfore appears to be important to have the same outside edge for all the tyres.

However the tyres also appear to be directional (tread in an arrow pattern)– as they are all identical (not marked left or right side) and need to have the same outside edge showing, this means the direction of the tread is different from one side of the car to the other ???

Is this correct??   :undecided:

I think I know what you mean. I saw a picture of them fitted to a car from the rear and it just looked wrong.

I know they are supposed to be a very good tyre, but this was enough to put me off and go for the GY Assyms (which were cheaper for me as well).

Maybe a bit sad, but the looks were an issue.

Just finished reading a very longggg thread on tyresmoke about them and the official line is they are not directional and therefore yes each side appears to be fitted differently.

Still a great tyre even if they look incorrectly fitted

yes, mine look different as well, but that is how they are supposed to fitted so i'm told.
they are a good tyre and much much better all round to the dunlop sportmax that came with it.
