Title: Admiral charge £400+ to pay monthly!
Post by: Madmax on 13 January 2010, 15:58
Got a quote from admiral & as it was the cheapest at £1,000 i thought i'd phone to see how much it
is monthly & it came out to £1,400+ with something like a £120 deposit & 9 payments of £140.

Are they having a laugh?

Are Bell/Elephant the same with this? [EDIT] Just phoned Elephant & it seems they'll charge the exact same.

Cheers.

This is why I have created a "car" account which is a totally separate account and save money into it through out year and then use that to pay off my insurance in one lump sum, they charge crazy amounts to pay it off monthly :(

they effectively loan you the money and then charge you a silly amount of interest

I do exactly what Alan does and save enough each month so come renewal I can pay in one lump sum and not have to pay out of my wages

Good idea guys, never thought of that.

I won't have the money to pay it off in one tho as i'm getting the car maybe in a few weeks.
I'll have to pull down my pants for the extra costs but i DEFINITELY won't be going with Admiral/Bell/Elephant.

Insurance is always a pain.

insurance can be a pain sometimes

thats why it's always best to have a shop around, a company might have a higher annual premium by a lil bit but there interest rates might be much much lower so you would be better of going with them.

and yes the seperate account is a good idea i do that aswell, i took the stump on my first insurance and left myself skint for a couple of months and ever since then paid money into a seperate account and paid it off in full everytime  and there is usually a bit left over for me to treat myself everytime my insurance goes down

I thought that's why credit cards were created (if you don't have the savings that is).

My group 20 bike insurance has just come up for renewal - £227.  I love being the wrong side of 30yo

I think admiral and elephant are the same company, i just got a quote for 3 golf GTI's on a multi car policy , just over £600 so quite happy with that although to pay monthly it goes upto just over £800, thats with admiral aswell.
