ok this is just a random question ;D
you have a limited budget of 3 grand
would you
A. use the money to buy an R32 bodykit and a set of 19 inch rims with sum good set of coils
or
B. get a set of air bag suspension, a set of 19s and colourcode everything outside the car. also a car repray of wotever paint job you want
choice is yours ;D
-
OR:
C) Fit 17 inch rims, A set of coilovers, Colour code everything on the outside and put a decent looking Lip and skirt kit ;)
-
A: sounds good to me ;)
-
nah lol cmon 17s are way too small for golf 4s, even the 18s look kinda wimpy given the generous arch of the mk 4 ;D
-
air ride on 19's. come off it?
-
none of the above... i'd spend it on the engine ;)
-
hmmm choices choices, it would all depend on what model mk4 i had (i wouldnt spend anymore on my 20v), how ever if i had a v6 4motion, it would be option a but prob with a set of standard r32 wheels to give it the authentic look (as it has the sound with a decent exhaust!)
and if i had a 1.8t id do the engine as toph has said.........
Gaz ;D
-
i'd probably go for A. cant see you getting air bag suspension, respray and 19's for 3 grand as you'd probably need some kind of body work to get the wheels up in the arch to justify having airbags.
i'd get the wheels, drop it and spend whatever else on the engine (like everyone said above if its a 20vt)
a standard car slammed looks way better than any bodykit un-slammed, so the bodykit can wait

just like to add.... the R-line (R32) kit only works on certain colours, take R32_T for example.. his car suits it well, but it'd look gash on my car. oh yea dont forget you'll need a twin exit exhaust to suit the rear bumper or you'll look a right wally :P

what colour is your car :P i think the R32 looks best in silver 8)
i should change the question to what would u do with 3 grand instead :-\

Don't go down the air bag route if you want to drive you car as it sould be driven! Is my advice!

mine's satin silver... the official "R" comes in the later reflex silver, which is metallic rather than pearlescent.... have you had a look at the oettinger kit ? its very good quality and will give you the edge over other people going down the lookalike route..

Now thats a nice bodykit! :o

If I had that sort of money knocking about I'd buy another mk1 GTI! It's gotta give you more pleasure than super-styling a mk4!

do you have a story to share? :D
-
Yeah I suppose I have got a story. Got my mk1 GTI in January this year, and the only problem has been a fuel pump relay switch costing me about ?15 from GSF. ;D
My 4-Motion on the other hand bought in March, has cost me a small fortune: :(
Clutch Pedal snapped
Both cooling fans blew up
Electric window fell through the door!! (dodgy mechanism)
2 punctures
+ standard Stealership servicing & MOT costs
So I could have bought another Mark 1 for the repairs I've shelled out on the Mk4 this year.
Hence the negative attitude towards Mk4's!!
