Hi mate,
Probably not the best person to reply as i've not worked on the VR6 before. I can tell you that the hose circled is a pipe from the heater matrix.....
Hope this helps!

hey man...ure right about taht..but its the black box in the back which exploded..i got the hoses changed already..

VW call it a damper. It works in conjunction with your idling control valve. So that explains why your car is not wanting to idle.
Part no_ 021133429A

I think its something to do with breathing system, i'll check the manual.
-
As a guess number 5, Vagcat has no details however.

I've seen this happen before on a corrado, might be worth checking the Corrado forum for answers.

It is indeed part of the idle stabilising circuit, i've replaced one before on a corrado, i can't remember what it's called.
-
I remember right i think its some sort of sound dampener.
Anyone else know what it is?
-
Right had a quick search on the Corrado forum and it's an "Idle valve noise damper". Apparently you can run without if you reconnect all the hoses ghetto style without the box.

ghetto style..!! how wud that be?!!..i need to drive the car and take it 40 kms away to the workshop..would wanna sav the cost of a tow truck ..but guyss..uve ben great!!..i hope it doesnt damage the engine?!
-
No it'll be fine. What you want to do is connect the pipes up so they run the same way as if the box was still there but replace the box with some copper or plastic pipe. Does that make sense?
It won't do any damage as it's just to reduce noise and if you run a shrick inlet manifold you actually have to remove this damper from the system.
