Can anyone tell me what the 2L conversion to a 1.8 engine involves e.g. work wise and cost.

And what I'll gain from doing it.

Alldepends on what you do head wise etc. have a look at TSR's website.

I have a 1.9 TSR engine with pack C head that gives between 145-150 bhp. very quick!!!!!!

Mines been bored out to a 2L, I didnt have it done, my mate B4 me did, but I would very strongly recomend it matie.....  It makes ALL the difference... ;D
