Have been lurking here a little so thought I'd say Hi.
I'm not new to the site I'm migrating over from the mk2 forums so I already recognise a few of the names here.
All going well I should picking up a lovely Mk5 GTI DSG tomorrow,
It's a 56reg in Metallic Grey and only 12k on the clock!
Extras include highline dis, full leather, reverse parking sensors, 18" alloys (no sign of white worm), sunroof, xenon lights, satnav (mfd2) and 6 disc changer.
Got a few upgrades on my list already inc RNS510, cruise control and maybe mfsw (although I'd like to try one again before I decide on that, wasn't so sure on the last one I tried. Of course would be looking at a remap later, but figure I'll drive it unmodified for awhile first so I can appreciate the difference.
So looking forward to the hour drive home tomorrow (but not getting it all mucky).

Best of luck with the new purchase, sounds like you've got yourself a nice spec there.
From a personal point of view, I wouldn't be without the MFSW - it took me ages to find one with it fitted. Cruise is useful if you do lots of motorway work but if not then I wouldn't bother with it.
Get some pics up ASAP!

Welcome to the MKV
bunker section
Once you come in here you only get let out on special occasions Ant
Looks like a great spec and assuming the alloys are original, then it should be a well cared for one
-
Thank you guys.
Well it's not going to be today now, as we've had about an inch of snow fall overnight, looking like it will be Friday.
-
A wise buy.

Welcome to the MK5 world !
Your going to love it :D :D
From the sounds of it, looks like you got a nice spec one. Any plans for her?

Again, thanks for the welcome,
.......how is it going ???????. :smug:
Due to a fresh fall of snow I've had to postpone pick up till Friday, not my ideal choice, but my train to the seller was cancelled, plus the road between here and station closed by the police. It's looks like it's cleared up now, but sellers not available tomorrow.
At least it's given me time to dig some more of my driveway out and hopefully move the old mk2 (it can go on the gravel, I want the mk5 on hardstanding)
From the sounds of it, looks like you got a nice spec one. Any plans for her?
Have a few plans, firstly now I've got a golf to be proud of, might feel brave enough to show my face at a few meets :)
Considering a remap, but going to drive it stock for a few months so I can appreciate the difference.
First few changes will be for helping with my business so wanting to get an RNS-510 (version C) and oem bluetooth (I hate having all the extra control units that things like parrot give you).
And of course once the RNS in in then well, I see there's quite a few possibilities.

Got her home, had a lovely drive, wonder how long it will take before I remember to stop doing the waggle gear stick/neutral check!

A little bit of bad news for me, one of the wheels does have a little mark on it, the trader was going to get it touched up (other minor bits were) but he decided that it made it look worse. The biggest thing I want to guard against is the dreaded white worm, so any ideas what action I should take (the trader has offered to get in retouched if I want)?
-
If the damage isn't too bad or deep then a touch up with clearcoat laquer should help stop the white worm putting in an appearance.

Cheers Hurdy, that's what I was thinking, I've also got some Poorboys Wheel Sealant on order, should keep them sweet :)
Now trying to find an excuse to go out for another drive :D
