Post by: JJH on 12 January 2010, 13:31

I will be picking up a GTD in a few weeks and will be getting a remap for it.

I am hoping those who have a remapped GTD could post up the comapny they used, the price and their opinions regarding the improvement post fitment.

thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Jon

Got mine done by badger5 in Stroud gloucestshire using revo made a huge difference, low down grunt in all gears. Revs faster and further through the range a gti killer now. Can doodle around at 30 mph in 4th and pull away nice and steadily upto a 110 ; )

Cheers for that Evo, did you pay much, can you easily restore it back to standard?

£399 plus vat for remap

Have not put it back to standard since having it done, instructions look pretty simple.

It'd take quite a GTI to beat a GTD to 110 in those circumstances.

It'd be interesting to see some timing sheets with and without a remap... :lipsrsealed:

That's about a fast as I ever drive.

Did you pay £400+VAT ajmoir?

are there any down sides apart from the potential warranty scenario?

did you have any input into the map?

cheers,

I don't think that was aimed for me maybe evo1986.  I don't currently own a GTD, its well on order.  Test drive though, had to find out if it was better than my current mk5 GT TDI 140.  So that was on a standard GTD (well to my knowledge any way).

Purely in the interest of the scientific discussion around the GTD being quicker than the GTI, If you bring your car to me I'll put it on the dyno for free

cheers,

I asked my dealer what would happen to my warranty if I Revo'd my GTD.

He said they would return the map to standard if they needed to then do all the warranty work.

I would have to get the Revo map put back on but this would be a small charge as I would have already paid the initial charge.

I think Revo also do a switching module to jump between standard and tuned so the standard map can be applied easily by myself. This could be an option?

Thats what I bought for mine its called a revo sps switch so I can put it back to normal should I need to.......

Bout a £100 if I remember, small little black box to plug in. Not much for £100 lol

My experience is dealers will say anything they feel like and love to BS. Unless you have what they say in writing its worth nothing.

This 'scientific' discussion is a non modded GTD being quicker than a GTI  sorry that still cracks me up. So wouldnt it be best to get a standard GTD to test with ?

i thought i saw the chap say he had a revo sps switch, so it can easily be put back to stock temporarily for a quick dyno run

Carbon chiptuning remap them to around 200 BHP and 325 ftlb.

Mobile service: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=203496.0

Customer comments on the above remap:

"I was fairly new to the idea of remapping when I first contacted Craig. He explained to me the whole process, and what effect it would have on the car.

Craig came to me at work, and now he has worked his magic, the car is a different animal. Much more responsive, tons more power at low revs, and the acceleration is stunning.

I was put at ease from the first point of contact. Hugely professional job done by professional people. If you are thinking of having it done........do it. You will not regret it!!!"
