Title: So i was driving past my local dealers
Post by: Top Cat on 12 January 2010, 13:27
So i was driving past my local dealers and there was a transporter there trying to park. I had a quick look at its load and spotted 2 shiny new R's

So i slammed on the anchors and did a quick right turn clyde.

One was Rising blue the other silver. Being the saddo that i am i parked up and watched them being unloaded then followed them round the back

The rising blue is very similar to the DBP of the Mk 5 R or at least it was in the dull light, it was parked 20 yards from a DBP R and honestly there was not much in it. The new R perhaps being a few shades darker.  :nerd:

My surprise came with the silver one. I am not a fan of silver cars, never have been, its just my preference i am not hating on them.

But the silver one was gorgeous  especially the back end, there are a lot more slabs of colour and bodywork compared to a Mk5 and it suited silver in my opinion.
The wheels on both were the 18" variety and they looked quite small to my eye, i believe 19" would fill the arches better.
Overall though both looked the shizzle.  You guys who are willing to pay for them wont be disappointed me thinks.

Nice one, TC.

Now, can you please go back to your dealer, only this time take a camera. You know what to do next.

No doubt that the R is excellent in my mind. It is strange that so many are coming in unordered with any old spec. I wonder what this means?

Could you PM me with the dealer's name, so I can take a look myself if it's nearby.

Its not near by if you live in London pal, it was Warrington's dealership.
And i would go back with a camera but i think i would be arrested, they already thought i was a wierdo looking round the car in the private area at the back   i never introduced myself just followed the cars in.

Trainspotter-esque, but well done TC, it'll bring relief to many that this is now shipping.

If it's got leather, I'll take it off your hands for £30k. I'd be doing you a favour as VW are obviously struggling to sell them.

Perfectly normal behaviour, if you ask me!

Warrington!? Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait until they arrive in London.

Go for it - if only to make me extremely jealous!

EDIT: Thinking about it, I've appeased myself by knowing I'll get the exact spec I want and it'll be a 10 reg.

I agree!  Even if mine did turn up tomorrow I'd be waiting until March to register it.  Its just a shame its not likely to turn up until April.  At least I get exactly the spec I want though.
