Title: Which cold air induction kit?
Post by: Ed30DSG on 12 January 2010, 13:06
I've read that one of the aftermarket CAI's allows fitment of the engine cover with some small modifications.

Can anyone shed any light on which kit this is?

Ta!

OK, I found a DIY guide from vwvortex ... http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3573551

That's quite a bit of chopping and no way back if you want to revert back to std.

Horses for courses really. I didn't want to mess about with the engine cover so I went for the Carbonio intake with ITG panel filter. If you really want a CAI then you have to resign yourself to the fact that if you want to revert, or sell the car standard you will need a new engine cover.

Although there isn't a shortage of Mk5 bits around so I doubt a used one would be hard to find when the day comes.

Just go without a cover or buy something like a Neuspeed cover which allows for a true CAI
