Title: AGU hunting
Post by: jamie16v on 11 January 2010, 20:29
probably supposed to be in the garage section this but,
recently my agu has started to hunt at idle when coming to settle from different revs ect.. it will idle smoothly if let to find idle but will hunt for a brief moment. also went to start it today at took about 3 attempts. it really didnt want to catch, it would fire but the revs would just drop then stall.. i really hope this isnt an expensive fix as im completely bladdered until pay day..
havent had it on vag-com yet as i cant find the charger for my laptop
any ideas? cheers, jamie.

Consider this an official bollocking then  Look after your car! Oil every 8k miles at the very least - 5k miles would be better.

Just looked at your sig, is the piper cross filter an oil one? If so these can gunk things up a bit, def do a throttle body clean.

20 quid for oil and filter or 600 quid for a top end rebuild and oil pump replacement when it picks up sludge from the sump.. your choice

Be cheeky and ask for trade discount - i used to do that even before i was in the trade and it worked more often than not!

It's less than £20 for oil at VW anyway!  Think I paid £17 for mine, and that's with no discount etc.

I just change my oil every March.  I do about 6k a year, so it works out nicely

taking your advise mate, as i feel like a 5 year old shouted at by his teacher..lol
cleaned the TB today and fitted new plugs and it made a huge difference. also bought a new oil filter but the oil in the shop was either crap or too expensive, so gonna pop to halfords tomorrow and do an oil and filter change, everthing is in order then, apart from the cam belt. But i cant do that with no moolah so thats gonna have to risk waiting till funds allow. yep, i know the risk but without the funds i cant do jack about it!
