Title: New Diverter Valve (with pics)
Post by: pridders on 11 January 2010, 13:28
Hi All,

I have had a problem with losing boost and I am pretty sure that it is a problem with the Diverter Valve so I have ordered a new one however the part number has now changed to 06H145710D (previously 06F145710G)

As you can see the new version does not seem to have a diaphragm? The outside is hard plastic and the inner grey colour piece rotates and depresses??

Any thoughts from anyone a little more technical?

Updated version as VW finally realised the original ones were not up to the job. Will fit and work with no issues.

Revision 'D' diverter valve is about £46. I enquired about one a few weeks ago to go with my PCV fix.

ok cheers, is it going to be as much of a pain in the arse to fit as i can imagine? mine gives a nice subtle woosh sound as you let off, is the new one going to get rid of this? would be a shame as it sounds quite nice, not to chav like to subarus etc round here!

You need to jack the car up, but by all accounts it's not a hard job to DIY. There are just three bolts to put on IIRC?

A member 'Sambo' did it himself a while back and the thread (which I can't find) had pictures on where the valve was located and how to do it?

Think it was o/s, bottom of the engine, near the turbo.

.....Sambo?  Linky to this thread of yours?   :undecided:

I don't think the whooshing sound is caused by a faulty DV, you will just loose boost and all your power when it is split/faulty.

The "D" revision RRP is £40.39

As said earlier, jack the car up, undo 3 bolts holding it on to the turbo, unplug the electronic controller, tighten up and plug it back in, 10 minute job.

The "D" revision RRP is £40.39

+ VAT at 15% (when I enquired) = £46.49.   :nerd:
+ VAT at 17.5% = £47.46.

^^^^^^^ agreed.

Yeah Sambo fitted one of these to his, then I got one for mine on his recommendation, although had it fitted by a friend.

He's a VW tech but yes it took less than 10 mins.

Works perfectly, no fault codes, I would say it improves performance slightly too.

I havea Forge DV on mine but thats only because it was before VW had released a decent revision of one. The new VW ones work a treat.
