I was down at R - Tech on wednesday having a k03s map. My car is a AGU with a k03s and forge tip. The car was only boosting 18 psi and it should be around 20-22 psi.
The guys had a good look around and couldnt find anything wrong and come to the conclusion it's probably the actuator that needs adjusting. The k03s come off a seat ibiza and has done 40k miles but was checked out by a turbo specialists in wakefield before I bought it at a cost of £25 + vat. They said it was perfect. I mention this just to give you guys a little info before answering my question.
Now my question is when im hitting full boost in any gear there is a whining noise that sounds like its coming from the turbo. COULD THIS BE DUE TO THE ACTUATOR NOT BEEN SETUP CORRECTLY AND THE WASTEGATE NOT OPENING/CLOSING PROPERLY? Nick at R - tech drove the car whilst it was making this noise but didnt even mention it.
Anyone got any ideas?
cheers

Didn't hear it on the rollers dude.. but then you can't hear much when they get spinning! It's not coming from the gearbox is it? :undecided: Those were never really designed to rev much above 4000rpm
The actuator venting the wastegate shouldn't really make a whining noise, but you will hear an elevated turbo whistle/whoosh.

Il take you for a spin in it before you start work on it when I come down next. I dont think its the gearbox mate, the noise seems to be coming from the turbo area.
Im going to book in for NEXT week I think.
Im sure the car will be running spot on after the next visit
