i have posted in the paint code part but im not sure if my question is better in here. anyway i have a 1988 gti 16v and am unsure of the colour  is atlas grey the same colour as pearl grey as i have seen atlas grey listed as LA7U and LP7V i have seen pearl grey listed as LA7U also so now im lost? the paint code in the boot of my car just says L7U? but i was told it was atlas grey i would be glad of any help before it drives me mad :sad:

They are two different colours - LA7U is Pearl Gery, and LP7V is Atlas Grey.

Pearl Grey is nicer (but I'm biased  :smiley: )

Pearly Grey was used predominantly on the runout models from '91 onwards and early Mk3s. I've never seen a Pearl Grey car as early as 1988.

Side-by-side I think Atlas Grey has more of a bluish tint, whereas Pearl Grey is more yellow, though there isn't a great deal of difference between them.

If you are unsure of the colour, maybe VW could help to identify it off the Reg no/chassis number?
