Title: dash lights staying on after key out ignition

hey turned off my golf mk4 other night and took the key out the ignition but the battery light and a yellow light key symbol stayed on then it wouldnt let me lock the car and alarm kept going off. any ideas?

Faulty ignition switch by the sounds
