Title: THEFT - WARNING
Post by: davoaj on 08 January 2010, 10:45
On Wedensday night 3 masked men smashed down my front door with a sledge hammer whilst my girlfriend and I were in the living room. They threatened me and demanded my keys, took my watch and some cash before leaving.

One of them was very calm whilst the other two were f**cking idiots. The calm one told me the car was stolen to order.

They also tried to take a neighbours S3 but failed.

The police told me that there have a been a spate of cars going in the area recently and that a new shape Type R went under similar circumstances last weekend.

If you're based in the Northwest guys and girls just be extra vigilant and for god sake if you are unlucky enough to experience what my girlfriend and I experienced, just do what they say and get them out of your house asap.

Don't try to be a hero, because even if you succeed they'll just come back. They tried to get mine back in November and failed. I wsih I'd sold it before they had the chance to take another shot at it.

Look after yourselves.

to be fair, being vigilant won't stop three armed men kicking in your door

That's terrible.

Glad you and the other half are ok. Shame about the car but it's only a bit of metal and can be replaced.

Stories like that put you off having a nice motor.

When I said be vigilant, I wasn't really meaning to take steps to stop them. Just take care of each other and if it happens just get them out of your house as fast as possible.

Not a nice experience, and yes I'll be moving house. Certainly won't be getting another nice car for some time.

What makes me laugh, The car is stolen to order for what £1000 tops? If its to be sold on, And the breakers rarely get involved in the actual theft of cars, As it brings there operation even more ontop.
Most cars go for like £800 stolen from theif to middleman or chopshop.

So if you work out the jailtime involved for such a little haul its f**king pathetic. + 3 of them? so thats instantly divided 3way

Say £300 each  and there's prolly 25years between them, Thats if they wern't armed if they were they are looking at 10years each if caught.

 Armed robbery         7-15yr
 Agrivated Burglery    7yr

Oh man - firstly - glad you're both (physically) unharmed.

What is it with these people who think they have the RIGHT to break in to someone else's house and take their property?

Would you mind being a little more specific than 'north west'?

Jeezo! That's terrible....makes me think twice about.... Not keeping a Flame Thrower by my sofa! Don't think anyone would order a 55 plate gti so reckon I'm pretty safe, and glad you two are as well.

It was a 56-plate GTI that they stole to order. I thought I was safe (57-plate) until I saw that!

Maybe because it was in such good condition they think they can get away with whacking 08 plates on?

Sorry to hear about what you've had to go through for a car, glad I live out of the way from where this is happening , but even so makes you wonder.

Just the way they carried it out is so shocking too, surely robbing the house while you slept would have been better for everyone (kind of)

The sad thing is the manner this was done, no-one should go through this (I was lucky in comparison as we were asleep for mine).

Sambo - It could easily be mistaken for a newer aged reg IT WAS MINT.

Hopefully they are dead in a ditch.

Unfortunately this is getting more and more common, and its EVERYWHERE in the country.

But without a garage, or parking your car out of sight, there isnt much that you can do.

Trackers would help get it back, but not all of the time.

Thankfully not down here, although for how long i'm not sure.

The thing is it happens so often and you rarely hear of people a) finding the cars b) sentancing the people responsible it's only a matter of time before other like minded assholes start carrying out similar thefts. I presume the whole operation takes a fairly organised gang to complete though, stealing the car is the easy bit. Getting it back on the road so that it's untracable is a little bit more complicated.

Also I'd rather not have the car back thankyou so a tracker is definatly a no go.

Maybe if this country was able to hand out more suitable jail sentances (along with removal of limbs) it may have an effect on peoples attitudes towards each other, untill then there is no detterant to the scumbags wanting to top up there JSA with a few hundred quid cash in hand for an hours work
