Post by: mellow yellow on 06 January 2010, 15:23
Hi, getting my first VW next week.
1997
8v Gti
5dr
Red
Full Service History
12 months mot
90k on the clock

Runs like new and the bodywork is very good, can't wait to pick it up and make it my own.

What do you think it is worth? because i think i'm getting a very good deal for the price i'm paying.

I'll be on here a bit now bugging you all for advice (after searching of course  )

Pics to follow when i pick it up.

Dan

Right, picked the car up on tuesday night and am very happy with it so far:

Plans for it are: (in no particular order)

1) A good wash and polish and get the trims and spoiler back to their original colour and take some pics and post them up
2) Fit my front component speakers as the standards are a bit poxy
3) K & N Panel filter and hopefully sort the whistle noise coming from the airbox (may smooth the inside of the box as well)
4) 8 Ball gear knob (i love pool)
5) Vr6 deep chin spoiler (any ideas where to get a good one from? i have a mate in a body shop so might be able to source one through him.
6) New original badges all round (as above)
7) Possibly get it lowered maybe just springs but would prefer coilovers
8) Porsche alloys (i like the design 90 or the 944 pepperpot style) with decent tyres
9) maybe one or two dub stickers
10) Pressed Plates

Thats about it for now and should keep me busy for a year or so. I'm gonna get out and take a load of pics over the weekend and might do a little project thread, although it might be a bit of a slow mover.

Just a little question, i have managed to average about 33mpg with a mixture of driving how does thi compare to everyone else?

Cheers Dan
