hi went to look at mk4 golf 1.8t to day. but when the turbo kicks in it holds back.(spluters) any ideas thanks
-
probably a coilpack, what year is it? Could also be something more sinister though like a fuelling issue or turbo related.
If it's a coilpack its a 30 quid fix. Impossible to give you a cost idea if it's something else though!
Get someone who knows golfs to check the fault codes before you hand over any cash

its a 2000. jus hd new turbo fitted 1000 miles ago its been remapped by red dot in enfield never herd of them or is he talkin out of his A hole. thanks.

2000 is the crossover year, earlier ones had practically indestructible coilpacks (you can tell early engines as they have an old fashioned cable throttle - later ones are drive-by-wire) but the later ones seem to be made of chocolate.
I've heard of red dot, can't really comment on how good their maps are.. never driven one, but i'm always weary of tuners who claim to map every type of car.. which means they specialise in nowt.
Did he say why it needed a new turbo? It may be a bit of a lemon, but if you can get the car dirt cheap because it has running issues then find an easy fix you're onto a winner.
