Title: Its That ABS thing again
Post by: adyh on 18 October 2004, 16:56
Right ,

basically the situation is this , a couple of months back the ABS warning ligh t would come on for a while every now and again , this has now become a permenant fixiture .

I read the fault code originally and it registered a sensor as intermittent and now as failed .

Think it was a loose wire if had the wheel off and can find nothing loose  .

Any idea how much its going to cost to get this sensor changed ?

And three weeks from MOT day as well

Im sure when i went in to inquire about a new front sensor they quoted me 40 odd quid and thats just the part.
If you need to get it through Mot and cant afford to replace it then just unplug it from behind the illuminated panel :D
Naughty i know but they wont detect it any other way

You can get a new part from GSF and fit it yourself for about ?45, if you've got somewhere you can jack it up and axle stand it.

Christ if I can do it anyone can. I just didn't fancy paying VW ?170 to do it. It'll take you an afternoon but thats gotta be worth the money you'll save. Give me a shout if you want some advice on how to do it.
