I've got most of my bits for my mk1 from either Euro Car Parts (stock loads of mk1 stuff) or Ebay.

Thanks alot. Im looking and making a shopping list of parts needed over the weekend as there are lots of things im going to need to make the car good again. I want to get the interior sorted first of all then begin saving my cash up 2 do a bare metal respray. Does anyone have any idea where i can take the car for a quality job?

hi
this is six months down the line after I posted a very similar add.
If you want to know about a respray just type that into the search area and then it will bring up all the questions asked about resprays. that's how I found out a bit.
regarding your shopping list as soon as you have it post it and I will try to help you out. I will very soon have access to 3 near complete mk1 gti's 2 1.6 + 1 1.8 and a donor car with lots of good bits and bobs on. I am sure I can help you out.
One piece of advice it will take longer than you think, it will cost more than you wil imagine but it will I'm sure be worth it.

For spares, try the following too!

Don't forget your friendly VW main stealer too! Sometimes they're not as expensive as you may think
Also, whilst e-Bay can be useful, it can also be a bloody rip off. Esp. if you're buying new parts for a MK1 chance are they are available elsewhere and cheaper.
For example, someone recently bought on eBay some new 'RARE' (Favourite eBay description along with Old Skool, adds ???'s) pedal rubbers for about ?12 (for two) GSF sell these for something like 60p each!!

They are going to be a good help. I know the main dealers are not so bad sometimes cos i work @ one! But alot of the parts are going obsolete for the mk1.
I agree with you on ebay parts often end up costing alot of money for a part that would have once been available for 5 or 10 quid from the main dealer.
