started the car up this morning and had a light come on which was for the exhaust
any ideas ???
going to the garage tomoz morning as nothing open around me. my local VW garage wanted 150 quid just to hook it up to the diagnostic, whereas the garage i normally go to do that for free for me
im hoping this is covered on my warranty lol

For £150 you could buy a VCDS cable and diagnose and clear the fault yourself!
Possibly an exhaust cat lower or upper parameter exceeded fault, but without looking you can't be sure.

thats a rip off, just give it a good blast down a motorway and forget about it, if it comes back then pay the dosh!

One of the worst bits of advice I think I have EVER read !! The light wont go away until the fault is reset.
Are you saying local garages are not open tomorrow? Most the country goes back to work tomorrow so I would have thought it would be open. £150 is a total rip off though, dont let VW totally fleece you. Take it to your local place and see what they say, when do they open?

i was joking, lighten up. but £150 is a rip off.

I shall try and lighten up.
The way you wrote it didnt really imply you was kidding :undecided:

£150 is outrageous, I thought my local stealers took the pi$$ with £85 + vat but thats something else. I take its more than just plugging it in, I think my stealers includes an hour of further investigation with that price...

To the OP...
Fcuk VW; my friendly-neighbourhood-independant-garage does diagnostics for free. :afro:
Google it and find yourself an independant garage near you.

took it to a vw specialist this morning for his software not to read my 54 plate. then took it to my normal garage and they took the car straight in the garage and hooked it up. problem with the ciol pack or something like that. covered on the warranty tho so its all good, getting it serviced too while its there

oh and thanks for the replies

Ah, ok. Coil pack.
That's fairly common & not an expensive fix anyway. Think they're about £25 each (one per cylinder), so shouldn't be a long job :afro:
