Title: how do you change the top mounts.

need to replace the top mounts on my 8v and its totally beyond me at this moment in time just need to know weather i need to remove the shocks todo it or if there is a simpler way?

you have to take the whole shock off.

You need a special 'turred' collar and an allen key to undo the top of the suspension bolt, then undo the other two bolts at the wheel area and it should come off easy.

The collar holds the shock and the topmount together. Did this a long time ago so i cant remember much and might be wrong?

yeah your top mount has a bearing in it and sits on top of the shock absorber, if you take the shock off it will become clear what to do. get a haynes or bentley manaul and it will explain in there
