Hi everyone, I have a 1.8 20V t (AGU) and upgrading to a k03s on saturday. My question is will the forge TIP part number FM180IND fit my AGU with a k03s? im pretty sure it will but want to be 100% first
-
Yes it will mate, just had my k03s fitted using my AGU forge TIP
-
Yes, I also used the AGU TIP. Nice snug fit. (Plus, you don't have to plug the extra hole that'd you have by using the AUM TIP). ;)
-
FM180IND is the AUQ one isn't it? You're better off with the AGU specific one but if you've already picked one up cheap you can make them fit. (Front vac lug needs blocking and pcv breather hose may need extending as the DV/accumulator switch places)

No, that's the FMGOLFIND for the AUM/Q etc. ;)
It is strange how they swap the DV location. I couldn't get my engine cover on properly with the AUM/Q TIP.

cheers for the reply people. cant wait now for saturday

so they put a 180 in the part number just to confuse things
Right, something else for me to moan at them about at ordering time

Ask them why, if something is to be a DIRECT replacement, why do they move things around and you have to blank off ports / plugs or cable tie things :lipsrsealed:

Morning all,
Well after a freezing day yesterdsay i finally got my k03s on without much problems. I say not much problems but in actual fact there were some bloody awkwars bits. The big problem we had was the AGU TIP trying to fit around the new turbo. after much problem solving we had to use a junior axesaw to cut a straight fin line down it, so when we forced it on the turbo it would expand slightly. IT WORKED PERFECTLY. I have read numerous posts about this problem however alot of people said the AGU TIP would fit on a k03s as its only 1mm difference in size. 1MM DIFFERENCE IN SIZE ON METAL IS LIKE 1 MILE  LOL.
Anyway all is good and how it should be but my forge TIP will be ordered tomorrow
my advice to anybody doing the k03s upgrade to either 1) have a forge TIP or 2) a AUM TIP (for anybody new the AUM is the engine code number on the later model mk4 golf gti turbos)
Finally i have a question for some forum guru's as there are many of you.
My engine code is AGU but now of course with a k03s. WHICH FORGE TIP DO I NEED AS THERE ARE 2 CODES AS I PREVIOUSLEY POSTED. WILL THE SPECIFIC AGU FORGE TIP NOW FIT NOW I HAVE A K03S?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Cheers people

I suspect when they are talking about it only being 1mm difference, they are talking about the forge tip and not the oem one
Will you be getting the car mapped to suit the new turbo?
The tip you need to order is FM180IND
-
or you could use the THS AGU TIP which definitely fits the K03s (first hand experience)
You'll have trouble refitting the engine cover with the AUM TIP on the AGU due to having to swap the DV and PRV round so you'll either have to leave it off or cut it about
-
cheers guys.
my car has had a stage 1 map by R-TEC
next on the list is FMIC, milktec and de-cat. Then of corse a stage 2 map.
thanks for info guys.

I think he has re-fitted his original TIP hence the extremely snug fit lol
