Post by: hyland770 on 24 December 2009, 09:05: Just a quickie, im gonna lower my car 60mm on back 40mm on front shouldnt have any problems running 15's should i? anyone got an pics of theirs done 60/40 just so i can get an idea of how low it is!?

Cheers, that was my first road legal car, so only a little 1.4

The wheels were BSA 214 Livewires

Sold the car to my mate for £1600, it was then stolen, the wheels/exhaust/ICE were stolen out of it and then the car was torched

Yea hacked off is an understatement but it was good for me because I had ANOTHER 1.4, which I was bored of, so he bought it off me for £1400. That means I got £3k for 2 1.4 Golfs :grin:

whats this set up? 60/40? may get coilies but would rather have decent springs than cheap coilovers :undecided:

Post by: sambo1670 on 24 December 2009, 13:44: im not sure what the drop is just wound the coillies down until the ride was rough enough to cope with lol. if i remember the back is about 5-10mm higher. collies are the way forward. lowering springs are ok if you replace shocks with them aswell. otherwise the shocks will be compacted all the time and give up the ghost in no time.

Spot on, cheap coilovers are horrid, I would never use them again.

and how many miles your gonna do in the car

can recomend the jamex coilovers, running them on mine for the last 2 and a half years and about 20k miles with no issues.. very good buy for the money

I have to change my tyres first for the proper ones then need something that ideally fills the archs but also need practical as I use the car daily and have a missus and two kids to think of as well!!!!!
