I have just seen a crack in my window screen and it couldn't of happened at a better time
I don't think my insurance covers window screens so how much am I looking for to get it replaced?
Anyone recommend anyone?

So its a crack rather than a chip? How bigs the crack?
Most insurance companies will get AutoGlass to come out and repair it for free if its repairable. If you want to replace the windscreen you usually have to pay an excess of around £65-£70 which wont affect your NCB.
If they dont cover it (id be surprised if they dont), then to give you a rough idea VW wanted £300 odd quid (I think, it was a while ago now) to replace the windscreen on my MK5. Bare in mind mine has light and rain sensors so will probs cost a little more than it would to replace one on MK3.

about 160-200 squid if you're not covered. i take it your not fully comp?

It's a crack. It's L shape from bottom right of screen. It's about 8" long
No I'm not fall comp, didn't see the point as car cost £300 and third party fire and theft was £295.
So pants down then hey
Thanks for your replys

I'm only TPF&T and I managed to pay a little extra to my insurance company to add the windscreen cover, then a few weeks later.. my windscreen 'suddenly' cracked. It hadn't been like it since I bought the car honest :lipsrsealed:

I had to replace my screen a few months ago and luckily I was covered as full comp so paid 75 quid and job done, but out of curiosity I did get a quote from autoglass to not go thru insurance and appariently the screen is about 400 quid as it's green tinted and shatter proof ( I thought all windscreens where shatter proof) then u got fitting to add so I'd say it's well worth getting your screen covered!

haha nice.
