Just to give you an idea of how much of a tool she was, here's a few things I noticed!
- She shot all the photos in .jpg not .raw
- She didn't use a tripod for ANY of the shots, not even the proper ones of the bride and groom together, and the family
- She didn't have any form of external flash
- As a result of not using .raw, all the B&W pictures we can never have in colour
- She's sh!t in PS

There's nothing wrong with not shooting Raw BUT I would have shot everything in Colour Jpeg.
Tripod isn't always needed if you have a fast enough lens. I did a wedding and only used my tripod about 5 times.
Your other points are vaild. :grin:

Equally has it taken you 3 months to come to this conclusion or has it taken your photographer 3 months to send you the photos? :huh:

Bit of both mate, only got the pictures on CD a few days ago! Apparently she was having laptop problems!

Our WP's took awesome shots and they were pretty good overall and nice chaps, until it came to getting our printed pics, We never did get them :angry:

tbh I could do better and I have never done wedding photography before

however... I can see the feeling that she is trying to get from her photos... but she is overcooking it with all the colour popping :sick: the image on that example page furthest on the right makes the happy couple look like they are holding two glasses of piss

The DVD of her work she showed us beforehand was great, obvious all staged to get our business. She kept trying to pick out colour on our photos as well, so we purposely didn't pick any of those ones.
We paid £460 for the package, then when I said I wanted the original pictures she charged us another £250!!

yeah trying tad hard and the 3 one from teh right is a bit liek 'and whos behind oor number 1? ' oh its the bride couldnt tell as the door and glass are in the way, or the one with the drinks could be strongbow?

She does everything with just the stock lens as well. Some of the pictures were taken by her "mate that was helping out".
She only took about 150 pictures too!

her ye olde photoshoppe skillz don't seem that good... she isn't placing people at the right angles or on the right 'thirds' - thats why some of them don't work... in others shadows etc are too prominent and her contrasts don't seem to hot either

When I get married I know where i'm coming to for a photographer.

It's all relative - my mates were trying to get us to use the photographers they had (a husband and wife team) as they really liked their work. They did have some good ideas e.g. a group shot taken at the same time from 2 different points of view. I cannot however use a photographer that takes pride in showing shots of the bride and groom where their eyes are closed. 1st rule of photography - chuck out any pics that are crap or don't work! :rolleyes:

Cheaper than getting her to run prints off for us. Plus, I could do a better job in Paint than she could do in Photoshop!

Those pics on her website are truly appalling, she has no artistic flair, uses photoshop in a way that she is almost trying to dig her way out of a poor photo, by tarting it up, and an uncanny knack of making the women look fatter than they probably are, very flattering!
the sad thing is though, that probably a large proportion of her customers think that she's done a great job.....
Get some good quality pics done asap, so that at least you can tell the Grandkids that they were taken just after you got married

well guys im gettin married in around 18 months the full works over in the derbyshire dales, anyone got any ideas on someone i can use, cause this is what i dont want to happen there are many sharks out there that will just turn up with a slr and think they can do the job. i would rather use someone that either i no or someone that i no knows lol. sorry to read your bad news rob.

I wasn't very happy with my wedding photographer, but when you're on a budget and can't take the photos yourself, you're a bit stuck. We paid £500, got the prints but no digital originals, and no album.
My sister paid £1500 and got thousands of photos and the original digital prints.

As a wedding photographer I can only apologise for the feckwits who pretend to be pro togs and screw people over on the most important day of their life. They also undercut the pros, but are still charging way more than their, *ahem* "skills" can produce.
Sadly some of the brilliant non-pros on this forum could probably have done a better job than any of the pictures on that site. Advice to others getting married; if you can't afford to spend over £1000 on photography then find someone you can trust and know. Spending any less is just money down the drain - total false economy. When meeting photographers make sure you see a complete wedding with the number of images you expect to receive - you'll soon know if they're good pics are just lucky accidents.
Hey - at least you won't have overblown images with detail blasted away by flash (I hope). Even in jpeg you can layer up and pull detail back with opacity layering in areas & dodge & burn like crazy. Really hope you can rescue your pics. :sad: Have you thought about doing a 'cherish the dress' or 'trash the dress' shoot with your wife for a first anniversary present? At least you could get all dressed up again and have some pictures to be proud of.

Looked at the first dozen photos under wedding and I wasn't impressed, one had a very bold flash on it and others had way too much light exposure on them. (2nd and 3rd pic especially)

ive just looked at both the sites posted and some awesome photography there, esp the vain - people damn some fitties in there!! As others have said i guess its just making sure you see some spanking work by the photographer but every tom dick and harry thinks they are a 'pro' because they got an expensive SLR

hard to tell from the tiny photos he's got on his site. but his choice of backdrop on the photos is interesting although he might not have a choice in this. Some of the lighting looks suspect on the interior shots, but not overly offensive, couple of blown out faces/ highlights in several photos, the dress is quite often grey so would suggest he's not compensated for it, look at image "L08_L" the dress is blown out, because of all the men (wearing grey or black) in the scene. then look at "L09_R" weren't those suits dark grey in the other photo?

It looks like he's caught the right moments, but either a lack of skill in post processing or knowledge when he took the shots, has left the images dull.
Whilst I wouldn't want to shoot a wedding myself just yet, you look at say one of the other links on the thread and then his, and it's easy to see the difference.
