91 is just ok.

3 points and £60.

96+ would have seen you in court

I reckon that'll be 4 points for you and a £200ish fine if the ask you to go to court.

I would take the points & £60 fine, I was stopped last feb they said I was doing 67 ina 40 zone but the policeman was hiding behind a barria so I challenged him about the way he was conducting himself by hiding and not being visable. I also asked for a court apperance but have not heard anything since?? He did threaten me with I would get a ban in court? I felt he was trying it on by offering me a £60 + 3points said no. This police officer got very shrity with me did the usal checked my car out found nothing wrong with it 58 plate anyway.  :undecided:thanks Steve 30

Just swallow it up and pay the fine accept your points. Happened to me exactly this time last year, but was a static camera 41 in a 30. It was poorly sign posted (its those cunning ones that are over traffic lights and double up as speed cameras... watch out!!) but I didnt have the time to challenge it - would have been fruitless anyway no doubt.

Its this  time of year - they take advantage of the fact that we are all doing a lot of travelling in stranger areas of the country and all with many stressful things on our mind!

i got done for 92mph on the m4 in my works van! got 6 points and £450 fine first offence, 44 yrs old driving since i was 17 never had a my fault accident, thought it was well over the top, it was dry and sunny, no cars for a good few hundred yds in front or behind, and they wonder why the public has no respect for them. i also had to go to court and stand there all day with a load of pikey scumbags, makes you proud to be British.
on another note , bought myself a parking sensor which has a few added benefits, you should put one at the top of your xmas shopping list, works a treat, its called laser pro plus parking sensor, just google it and enjoy.

had another few instances of people pointing things at me, they dont get to see what i am doing, i dont condone speeding in the wrong places at the wrong times, but you never see them there do you, they are busy trying to get your money on clear straight dual carriageways. i've got one on my ed30 and my works van, they work a treat.

I 100% agree with you, speed limits in built up areas are fine, but some are plainly ridiculous and purely for money making schemes. My 40 in a 30 was not residential and on a dual carriageway, and I only accelerated through the light to safely pass a slow moving van when the lanes merged... unaware that the camera was also a speed trap (no signs to indicate so).

Perfectly good maneouver in my eyes, but what the hell can you do?

Got done on the M57 doing 93 at the end of June. Offered 60 smackers and 3 points which I took.

Two police did me, man and woman, the bloke was fine but the policewoman had a bit of an attitude. She said to me 'You don't seem particularly surprised to have been caught doing 93 on the motorway, Martin, is this a common occurence?'

I had to stop myself from saying 'Well, I was doing 140 yesterday' Lol.

Aye, trouble with that is the parking attendants gun can't "pick you up" so to speak so they come after you anyway don't they!? :undecided:

Sounds like you did well out of that... :afro:

I got 3pts/£60 in May for running a city-centre amber at 11mph. Money grabbing f*ckers.

60 + points i reckon, i had 9 up til end of last year and have challenged, its a waste of time in most cases even if the gun is reading high the limit is still 70 so i would just pay up and forget about it!

The speed limits on motorways are just a way of keeping you down and in your place.  Just like a Skoda owner to fall for that.
Title: Re: Speeding on M4

wouldn't be difficult would it, you just say it wasn't on.it does open my garage door as well, which is nice.
the fella with the tit comment, i had a fine which is why i got a garage door opener, as i said earlier, going over the speed limit slightly on a dry clear traffic free motorway isnt doing anyone any harm, dont condone speeding in built up areas etc, shame we are not as law abiding as you.

I just done understand why people speed and then moan when they get caught. What do you expect, a pat on the back from the old bill. I dont like speed limits and persoanlly think we should follow the germans with their motorway speed limits :P

Title: Re: Speeding on M4
Post by: sunnylunn on 24 January 2010, 18:52
dont expect a pat on the back, but dont expect to get treated worse than a burglar, drug dealer, thug or rapist.
who doesn't speed at some time or another? its ok at the right time in the right place, people get annoyed when the old bill are hiding and trying to catch people out on a straight dry dual carriageway. the way things are going speeding will be worse than murder soon.

Grow up Sunny. Treated worse than a rapist, murderer, stop being so melodramatic about it.
People getting caught drink driving, disq driving get pretty harsh penalties, but you need to accept that driving is a priviledge, and not a right! That is why they come down hard on people for it, You see the articles when speeders kill people, you cannot account for other peoples driving, even if you are on a straight and clear stretch of road.
I have sped a couple of times, nothing too serious, but I know the risks, If I get caught then its no one elses fault but mine.
You need to just suck it up and accept it if you get caught.

You know for a fact do you?
A friend of mine, and a former work colleague, got killed by a driver who then drove off.
He got turned in by a neighbour, as he was trying to repair the damage and clean it himself.
He got a measly 46 weeks in prison and a 1 year driving ban, after he admitted causing death by careless driving.
He also had a previous for careless driving.
Unfortunately the law at times is a joke.

well said audi8quattro, the law is sometimes an ass.i just thought that my 6 points and £450fine was a bit severe for a first offence in 28 years of driving. you hear and read everyday about some scumbag stealing a car trying to outrun the police etc and they get 2hrs community service :undecided:and as for the " i only speed now and then"  brigade, what a load of b******cks.

what was the speed limit that you were doing 92mph in?
Title: Re: Speeding on M4

I always exceed the speed limit if I can get away with it.  I get caught on average every 12 years.
People who drive below the speed limit are very often drunk, drugged, ill, tired, or blind.  It's the slow drivers who should be stopped and inspected.

i think eggbert has no concept of the laws on the roads,

Laws are for the guidance of wise men and the blind obedience of fools.
said Solon, the Lawmaker of Athens, about 2500 years ago.

He sounds better than our PC bunch of rulers.
