Hi guys,
Been reading this forum for a while and you helped me make the decision to purchase my first golf!
Got a black 3 door 1.8T which I love but I am not sure what the difference is between AUM/AGU/ etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :undecided:

what year is your car?? 2000?? 2002?

Should answer all your engine code questions ;)

Spot on, thanks.
Is there much difference between them then? Looks like i've got an ARX
-
Main difference between them being that engines from AUM + came with the better Ko3s turbo where as engines before it only came with the ko3 turbo.
They come with the same power but an engine with a Ko3s will see higher gains from a remap. Thats the main difference, there are others like throttle cables and stuff but to honest I cant remember off the top of my head lol

ARX?? wow thats a rare code :undecided: Have you read that off the engine block itself?

Thats what I thought though the thread does list an ARX engine code too

Got a Ko3s though

Having a bit of a blonde day I think. :embarassed: Just checked the engine block and it is a ARZ.
I was toying with the idea of getting it re-mapped but the car's done 70K and don't really want to put too much pressure on things. Had a bad experience with turbo's blowing up on a BMW once.
-
70k is absoloutely nothing on these engines mate!
I remapped mine at 85k, and im running nitrous on mine and its now on 110k !
The turbos are good up to 130k
-
jwelsh is right, 70k is reasonably low mileage and many people, if not most on here have remapped their cars with more mileage than that.
-
As said ive been mapped since 70k now at 137k on original turbo
