Any one got one or something close to it.

1. Are they any good
2. How easy to fit
3. Do you have the Radar attachment
4. Any other useful info

Cheers

Ive got a Road Angel Proffesional Connected, no wires, battery powered, updates while on the move, can use it to track your car if req, clips on and off dash very easy, built in Radar tracking, shows current speed, voice tells you what speed you need to do through cameras etc,
Good piece of kit ive had no problems with it, i use it in my van and transfer to the car when using the car, no cables hanging all over the place

Something like it!

I had a Micro Road Pilot in my ED30 and will be fitting it to my MK6 when it arrives.
Its very small and neat and was hard wired into my ashtray - so that I could shut the lid and you'd never know it was there.
I don't like the idea of having to remember to remove something from my windscreen all the time.
Hard wiring the device was pretty simple.  I just took a feed of the cig lighter.  A minor modification with a little bit of cutting to the ashtray was involved.

I had the laser / radar detectors hard wired into my front grill - which were practically invisible.  It was a bit of a pain in the ass getting the cable through from under the bonnet into the cabin - but it was a one off.

It works very well - I've heard it shreek at me a couple of times, braked, and then seen a cop with a gun!  The other good thing is that even with the ashtray closed, I can still hear it beep.

The actual Road Pilot slides in and out of its mount for updating - and you connect it to a PC once a month... or before you embark on a journey!

I posted a pic of it this afternoon in another thread.  You'll see it near the bottom of here:

Its just a shame it looks a bit basic compared to others - and you can't change the colour of the display!

http://www.roadpilot.com/roadpilot/concept.asp

this link might interest those with GPS equipped Nokia phones. Other makes will follow.
there is a free offer to trial the new Roadpilot product until 28th February. I'm waiting for the Blackberry to become available.

Does that sh!t actually really work? I mean if it does surely it only detects it once the gun is aimed on that car and by the time it beeps your already caught so breaking is pointless

legal guidelines require 150m of clear visability to get a 'safe' reading.
for a detailed write up check this link....especially the table at the bottom of the page.
someone with good reactions could reduce from 70 to 50 in less than 150m, I've done a few times I think.

Probably not the best place to ask (Pm?)

Does any one here own a laser jammer or a good radar detector? There is hardly any fixed camera in my local area. They prefer hiding in their unmarked white van pointing their guns at my waxed shiny bonnet! Don't think Road Angel is useful with mobile camera.

What annoys me is that they tends to come out in a nice sunny day rather than a wet icy winter morning when the risk of having an accident is higher!

i would try a search on the mk5 board. i do remember someone posting a parking sensor/radar that if happened to be accidentally left on would block any of the handheld radar devices... not that anyone would forget to turn it off of course :lipsrsealed:
