After running around in a Mk2 1.6 CL for a year and loving it - it only has 40K on the clocks and is absolutely immaculate I decided I wanted another golf that was just a little less boring looking. Made a massive mistake and bought a seriously modified MK2 gti. This thing is running about 160bhp (uprated cam, sports exhaust, sports air intake) and has adjustable suspension which moves about 1mm when you put all your weight on one corner. Great fun for 15 minutes but I have driven works rally cars that are more comfortable, quieter, sensible and more reliable (something falls off every 30 mins or so) My son has bagsied it to strip it down, put a roll cage in, a big stereo and use it for dragging.
Went back to the 1.6 and once again (strangely another year later) decided I want something more fun.
Have decided to go for a standard Mk2 GTI and see if this fits the bill.
Looking for one now and will let you know how it goes.
