Title: driveshaft or gearbox?

just bought a mk3 colour concept,  the problem i have is that there is a very strange noise coming from the passenger side. if i didnt know any better i would swwear it was a knocking cv joint but the thing ivwe noticed is that the noise goes away when you dip the clutch, anyone got any ideas?

sounds like the release bearing to me not a big job

A CV joint only knocks when ya go round an opposite bend.
Release bearing sounds more likely.
