have you ever mapped any auto 1.9 tdi's ?
any pitfalls to this ? as it seems common that SOME vw clutches give out once remapped
Thanks in advance
-
done 34k on a standard clutch (114k now ) since remap last year
not sure about the auto boxes, seems to be pot luck with manuals, Rhyso's lasted less than 2k

Hello,
The auto mapping will differ from a manual box, the torque will be less in your face and more linear and last well up the the rpm range. If you have vagcom you could have the option of 2 maps to switch between by using the transmission coding in the ecu, but this depends on the age of the car.
And when it comes to rolling road and autos... They are pigs to do, its hard to fully load the engine from 1500rpm with out it kicking down it takes a few trys to get right.
What year is it?

Autos still tune well, as long as the delivery is smooth. Try and go for a year 2000 and onward which can be remapped via the obd port and make my job easy.

I which I had seen that one..
Chuff on NOS!
Top Gear used a Jaguar XJS to try it on and it beat a few 100k supercars over a 3/4 mile sprint,
I am trying a customer to put NOS on his Bright yellow GT2871R Seat Ibiza, which should be running 370bhp from the last owner and remap, but it only pushes 314bhp on our dyno, the problem is that you can only use the power for 2500rpm, 4000 to 6500rpm is madness with 280bhp at the wheels, but getting upto 4k in each gear is like waiting a refund of a utility company...LOL I am sure NOS will get rid of the lag.

Fell out with the G2.. :embarassed: It let me down last night, ran out of fuel at the bottom of my road so I dumped it there, and started to use the BMW again, The BMW will do more miles with the red light on..pmsl
and that reminds me the Golf is still 3/4 of a mile away down the road.

Nope, I had a b5 auto, very lazy and un-responsive box. kills the fuel economy too.
DSG or nothing with a VAG.
