Hi all
Just thought i'd say hello, I'm mark from Suffolk and i just had to do it!! after many years of several mk3 gti ownership and a couple of mk4 Gti turbos i strayed away to Bmw but always fancied another mk3 just for some fun! so i took the plunge and found an R plate 16v on ebay for £500!! few little problems with it, glovebox wont open, small piece of laquer coming off and a running fault, Guy i bought it from has changed cap, leads, relay, but still has cutting out fault every now and then when car is warm, starts straight away after cut out! Air mass metre maybe??or timing belt? or you guys any ideas? Looking forward to getting it back to tip top standard spec and having some fun. Thanks for a great site
Mark

hey, welcome to the forum
have a look/search in the mk3 section, lots of info in there to help you out.
check this out for opening the glovebox http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn_LmCZcMUM
you may need to buy a new handle and then swap the lock over to the new handle. fairly easy job if not a bit fiddly!
