hi mate. welcome,ive just got a mk3 8v too. mines perfect mechanicaly but the paints naff.  planning a few mods and a respray 4 early spring.

the bloke i bought the golf off said there was a misfire between 2500 and 3000 revs. so decided to have a look at fixing it and damaged the distributor and i bought one from a scrappy and fitted it and it trys to start but there is popping coming from the exhaust. so i think i need to turn the distributor around and try again. if this dosen't work does anyone have any ideas.

turned the dizzy today started for 20 secounds then cut out.now the starter motor is playing up and wont let me start it.
