As some of you may know i've recently done the k03s conversion on my agu and made 219bhp with a slipping clutch!
So whilst sorting out the cash to do the vr6/g60 clutch setup, i noticed the car started smoking again (blue smoke). This only happens when the car is at full running temp and only when you pull away in 1st, does not smoke on boost or during drive.
Spoken with Nick and he says it could be the PCV or valve stems. Anyone else have any ideas?
The car did this before with the cracked k03 turbo, but it was much worse.
Please help

How much oil is in it?
1.8T's can smoke if overfilled even a little bit
-
Checked the oil and it's within the tolerance...

How many miles have you done since having a new turbo?
-
Approximately 500.....

Approximately 500.....
Hmmm was just thinking it could be burning off the oil from when the turbo went :undecided:
-
Car was fine all the time, and just yesterday it was idling for a long while and when i gave it a rev it was smoking (took me back to how sh!te it was before with the old turbo)....
-
Sounds like valve stem seals.

i would say from that its the valve stem oil seals or maybe a seal on the turbo

have you got any codes in it for boost hoses?
-
Sounds like valve stems allmost definately, oil is getting past the valves at running temp because it's nice and thin, dropping into the chamber(s), then when you set of in 1st and rev the engine the oil gets burnt off which is why your only seeing it in 1st, if it was turbo seals it would smoke on boost and if it was rings you'd notice other problems and same with head gasket etc imo

Ok so is the stem seals a big job?
It's definately not smoking during drive or boost and still has power(clutch permitant ).
I hope it's not the turbo seals as it was suppose to have come off a 11k mile Octavia and i paid £300 for it

I reckon stem seals aswell mare. Its a head off job not had it done before I would say about 300-400 but thats just a guess?

It depends how competant you are and how far you want to go, every time i've took the head off a car i've replaced the water pump, belts and tensioner as a matter of course but this doesn't always need to be done you can just stick new belts on if your budget is as tight as a nuns chuff.
Personally i'd take the head off myself and drop it off at a decent machine shop and get them to do the work, you may aswell buy a full top end gasket set which will come with the valve stem seals and you may aswell get it skimmed for good measure, machine shop should charge you around £100 for a skim and replace the seals/stirp and rebuild the head ready for you to fit, and get them to replace any worn valves while they are at it which will be around a tenner each (usually one or two are worn), apart from that i recon about £100 for a gasket set then your belts and what ever else you want to do...
And always use brand new head bolts, if you re-use old ones and one snaps you will kick your self!

So is there anything else i can check/do before i go ahead with the valve stem seals......hoping it might be a smaller/cheaper job...

Piston Rings?
