Left hand side of the engine at the top of the engine is 2 fuel lines that go down to the front where the injector rail is.

You obvioously have all of your air intake on the left, with breather hoses going to the cam cover.

I only have pics of VR engines in peices.

Can you see it on this image i got of google images

right, this sounds really naive of me but a couple of inches to the left of the 'vr6' writing is that smooth bit of plastic, its the pipe going into the top of that. its a rubber pipe but the seal is plastic and its snapped clean off, i currently have it taped up as the smell coming into the car was rank. sorry for sounding like a spaz but what part is this? :undecided:

i rekon he means the top breather with the plastic valve thing on as they always brake

Basically that is the "crank case breather"

It is the most comment part to break on the VR engine.

VW wont sell the pipe without the rest of the intake coming to something like £70+!!

But Ford also used the VR6 engine and will sell just the part you need which comes in at about £20.

The ford part number for the bit you need is: 7 364 573

Alternativly you could fit a universal little cone filter thing from halfords, or a catch tank which can be bought of Ebay.

Mine is the same as this could this involve a loss of coolant as well?

Nothing to do with coolant I'm afraid

Nope, get your system pressure tested and that will help you find the leak.
