Title: November order's 09
Post by: Steve30 on 05 December 2009, 21:59
Its done orderd on 27th Nov reflex Silver 3 door lux pack, DSG monza'z 18's.
Build week10 if i'm luky. Went in to the dealers today to try and push them a bit but he said maybe end of Jan ??? My question is when does the VAT start from IE when the ordor was put it or when the car is picked up? This waiting time is load B-------?? These GTI's have been out for ages whats the hold up???

VAT is at Invoice time so when you pay your bill in full. Ie when you pick it up.

Build week 10, then work on getting the car 13th week of the year. So April.

But theres an offer on VW website that if you order in October or November they will cover the VAT rise as long as the cars registered before 28th feb but if the build week you have is week 10 then fat chance of that happening!

Hold up,
Theres a few things been said why this is, going about.

Theres a shortage of RCD310(standard CD unit in the UK) and RCD510 (optional 6cd one) radios adding around 4 weeks min to the build weeks at the factory.

Theres a rumour that VW UK only booked a certain amount of build slots at the factory at the start of the year and basically its not enough for what they have ordered, they say because of the demand due to scrappage etc.

I spoke to my dealer the other day enquiring about an Eos for the wife. He said it'd be April if I ordered now so it isn't just GTis that take ages. He said there was nothing lying around at all so you have to wait ages for everything.
Since VW/Porsche have just announced a profit (despite a recession) of £gazillions there's your answer why you have to wait - they're flogging everything like hot cakes and can't keep up. Simples!!!

Hi guys

Not sure if you've been reading the August thread but, without wishing to be a bit of a kill joy, I wouldn't be shocked if you have to wait a bit longer than you're expecting. Maybe the delays will sort themselves out but I ordered a 3 door with xenons, 18", leather, dynoaudio and a few other bits back in August and am now being told it won't be built until week 7...

^Yep us August orders are all around that time. Mine at the last update was BW06

My question is when does the VAT start from IE when the ordor was put it or when the car is picked up?

As said above, VAT is at the time of collection.  Most VW dealers have a deal on just now that if you get the car between 1st Jan - 28th Feb 2010 that they will pay the VAT increase.
The problem is that most cars ordered now will not be ready by then!!
I've got a deal with my dealer that if it arrives after 1st March, that they will pay HALF the VAT increase.
Its worth trying to negotiate something - but then if you've already signed and put a deposit down, you've got little chance!

Snoopy referre above to limited build slots and the impact of scrappage.

I've confirmed today with VAG that this is indeed fact but there's a real anticipation that all is startin to settle which will have a positive impact on availability from early January.

Okay

First off all I ordered a Carbon Grey (at the moment I drive a Black Metalic GTI MK V)
I ordered Detroit Alloys (18 inch and a bit more beautiful cause of the inlays) instead of the Denver Standard...I think that it is the same as Monza.
Now my dealer claims that when ordering those alloys the car comes with a different suspension...is that so ?

And my second question if I put say 100 Gig on my Ipod can it fully communicate with the 30 Gig GTI Harddisk....or should I not acceed 30 Gig on my Ipod??

For the record my "extra's" :
RNS510, camera, mediabox, sunroof, leather, DSG, Park Distance, Led Rears, winterpackage, light and sightpackage 1 and 2....actually nearly everything except the xenon...only reason for that.... my wife said enough is enough....somehow I had a feeling I should not take it any further  :smug:

Anyway  if you have any questions about extra's shoot....

Sounds about right to me. you ordered a month after me and your build week is a month after mine.

I could have custom speced a 911 and had it quicker.

Phone VW customer service. It may delay it. I was told similar when i wanted to add a few options its the dealer covering there arse basically because VW were saying if you cause the delay then they may not pay the VAT rise and the dealer is worried about that. I took the gamble and it paid off. The key words i took from what i was told were you and may
Remember Build week 6 cars have been confirmed this week. Next week its Build week 7 so you will have to be quick.

Worst case it gets delayed a week or two, VW say tuff you caused the delay and have to pay the extra 2.5% vat and it ends up costing you what around £400 more. Or around the same price as the metallic paint would have.

Steve,

They told you build 09 for certain?

Did you order on the 27th November? I orderded 10th and have been told build week 12 only from dealer though, as that is what was on system this week, as I added Dynaudio to my spec.

I'm wondering if it will move forward then to build week 9 or 10 also, need to know as we are seling our Edition 30. Are you p/x your edition 30 for the mk6 GTI?

Mine is due 22/02/10 unless they mean it should be 22/02/10?

How much have they offered you on P/X for the ED30?

£13,500 for my ED30

Mines March 07, 3 door manual with Xenons, winter pack and Hiline computer.

I've looked and I reckon about £15,000 to £16,000 private.

I assume yours is fully loaded and 08?

after cleaning it two bucket method / drying etc,

Polish: Autoglym super resin polish
Paint Sealent: Jetseal109 or Autoglym extra gloss protection (2 coats, one left overnight)
Wax: any recomendations that won't break the bank

Got to say the ACC is a must have option, it just soaks up the speed ramps, esp those sqaure one's in the middle of the road!! Well worth the money IMO!! The RNS510 makes a funny noise when its switched off for some reason very starnge , hope it doesn't drane the battery?? Sounds like a humming nose even when the engine is off and the key out?? Thats gonna drive me insane I know it will. I can feel a visit coming on back to the dealer's??? Apart from that the car is awasome a big improvment IMO very smooth & refined love the vacoover's !!

The fan is probably temp controlled and will slow down or stop as the unit cools. If thats what it is making the noise. (you can see the fan in the photos)

Mine does it as well for a while after stopping...think it only does it for a few minutes. Likely cooling down. It's been stopped if I go back to the car a bit later.

The car is amazing absoulty brilliant!! Except for one thing the bloody light's are very poor??
[/quote]

I put Philips extreme power in mine and they made veryvlittle difference other than looking marginally whiter than the stock philips long life bulbs. Some owners have raised their headlight beam a touch to help, not touched mine yet.

Fitting HID bulbs in the stock headlight lens results in masses of flare, I've seen 2 mk6 with themfitted and they look awful and blind oncoming traffic even on smooth roads which just proves how bad the reflector design is. There is now a non glare version from hids4u which may be better in this respect. Whilst a mot inspector probably won't care about hid bulbs in a stock headlight the dept for transport has ruled them illegal.

Let us know what changes and improvements you make, enjoy the car

Steve:
I am so glad you are loving your car even though it does not have bright enough lights
I have already told you where to go and get the HID conversion done professionally. It will cost you approximately £145 per set of beams. These people are very professional also deal with FI teams and manufacturers. Speak to David.
Don't waste your time with the Philips x-treme or home installed HID conversion kits. These are all pretty rubbish.
Enjoy some brighter night driving soon.

Log into photobucket using your login name and password,
click 'my home'
There should now be a big blue box just off centre on the right that says 'upload images and videos' click that. (If its not there on the far right theres a list of places to upload photos from (websire url computer etc) click 'my computer')

A new box should open up. If not check brouser has not stopped it.
Find the photo to upload from the location on your computer inside this popup box, double click it. A task bar will show it uploading.
It will then say image 1 of 1 uploaded. Now just scross down this new page and click 'save and share'.
New page again and just scroll down the page you will see a thumbnail of your upload with links below it. You want to click on the box next to 'img code'. it will then highlight the contents of that box. Press CTRL C
Then click the blue box 'Return to album'
You should now have the IMG code in your buffer so to post it on the forum reply press reply press CTRL V
