Title: PAS and Alternator belt on mk2, tools?
Post by: maxp on 04 December 2009, 14:30
Hi,

Plan to change the alternator belt and pas belt on my mk2 8v gti tomorrow.

Assume the alternator belt comes off by unscrewing the the bolt from the jagged brace attached to the alternator itself , and the pas belt comes off by unscrewing the tensioner bolt?

The belts i have from vwspares are:
Alternator:    10A0865C - (1.6 (+PAS), 1.6 Diesel (+PAS),1.8 8v (+PAS))
PAS:   10A0735C - 1.6-1.8 8v,1.8 16v 1986-1991 (upto 1G-MW-240000)

Also are there special tools / sizes i will need?

need to undo the long allen head bolt on the alternater, the one with its head behind the cam cover to loosen alternater otherwise you ll chew the adjuster up easily.
