Title: Question about my bro's Bora tdi.
Post by: alex160 on 04 December 2009, 11:04
Brother has recenltly aquired a bora tdi, is the 115bhp version, on an x plate.

Anyway, when he starts it first thing in the morning it take about 3-4 attempts of starting the engine before it fires up, once fired up the revs fluiate on idle and sometimes it cuts out due to revs droping so low.

Car is fine when warmed up slightly, any ideas?

Thanks

Went round and saw my bro tonight, the glow plug light stays on about 1 second    That surly points at relay fault...

Also regarding tick over, it's ok for about 20 seconds but then revs drop and you here a click and they rise back up, this repeats itself for a couple of minuates. Once its warmed up abit its fine idling. Any ideas? Possible MAF?

he took me for a 10 mile trip in to today, for a while it drove spot on but after a few miles the maf stopped working, car was in limp mode, very little boost etc, stopped at shpos for 10minuates and carried on, the car then drove all ok again. So i think the maf is at fault. Got a pirce off VW for one and its £52.00 all in so not to bad, but still not sure regarding the starting issue, as said the glow plug light deosnt seem to stay on very long at all, so think we might try fitting new relay and glow plugs.

Update: Fitted new MAF meter and sorted running issues. However still has starting problems first thing in the morning and poor idle speed. Replaced the glow plug relay unit but no change

Any ideas???
