Before I start I am 25, been driving 5 years with 1 year no claims and have a mountain of convictions and points :lipsrsealed: My 8v gti is cheaper to insure than a 1.0 polo and the astra diesel I am currently driving. I can get insurance on the gti for £900, but a peugeot 306 diesel is £1500 and an '03 porsche 911 gt is £2200. This is fairly similar across the board and have tried MANY brokers. I dont quite understand it, Could anyone shed any light on this?! Cheers, Ben.

Hello Ben
You will find with your 8v been regarded as a classic that it can usually be a lot cheaper to insure than most everyday cars.
For example with us at HIC you actually get a discount on the insurance just because it is a classic and just because it is a golf. Every vehicle is different and every insurer targets different vehicles so its just a matter of finding the right insurer for you and your vehicle.
Hope this helps
