Title: Service!
Post by: allybally on 29 November 2009, 20:07
Guys I want to service the wifes car for the cold weather.
It's a 52 plate GTI 8v and APK engine code 115bhp.approx 60k miles.
What do I need for the service and wheres the best place to get the stuff from.

4 x plugs
leads
Dizzy cap & rotor arm
Oil filter
Air filter
Sump washer
Oil (what grade and how much does it take?)

Is there anything else I need?.
Arnold shark said they serviced it before she bought it but I have my doubts  :undecided:
So i'd like to just do it all and I know where I stand then.It just passed it's MOT  .
She only uses it to go back and forward to work (8-10 mile round trip) and the odd run about at the weekends
So she dosn't blast about at mad speeds..

Thanks for any info you can forward on.

Pollen filter

You dont get a sump washer you get the whole plug for a pound (or less from the link below)

A good quality  10/40 oil will be fine. Takes approx 4.5l IIRC

Check prices with VW first as SOME items will be cheaper then elsewhere

A local parts depot or www.vwspares.co.uk for anything else
