All good choices there Snoopy, especially the sunroof, ACC and 18's. I think the tyre pressure monitor is standard though.

Snoopy

I'd go with all of them except perhaps the flat tyre indicator, we've been through the advantages and disadvantages of it somewhere way back near the start of this forum and it seems to hardly be worth the £35.

Definitely go for the ACC the more miles you put on your car the better it feels, I feel it has loosened up somewhat and is more responsive.  To be honest earlier on when the car was brand new it hardly noticed.

Monza II's or shadows depending on who you speak to!! are a definite given.

Here's hoping you can still change your spec.

Tyre pressure is not standard.  IIRC its something like 35-40 quid.  However, it has been much maligned on this forum as not worth even that!

Of the others, I would say the 18 inch Monzas are essential.  Will set off your Xenons perfectly

ACC worth it if: 1) you do a lot of motorway miles and/ or 2) you have really poor roads around you and/ or 3) you fancy doing a track day

Cruise - personally I don't see the need.  Again if you do motorway miles, then will be great for those average speed limit zones

Lux pack - gives you folding mirrors - however won't work on the key fob, you do manually from inside the car

Sunroof - lets in more light, however rare for the uk to have much sunshine!  Air con will keep temp down in the car.

I'd have the top 3 on your list,  but not the bottom 3

My dealer will fit the cruise for £156 all in which is cheaper than factory! Worth checking with yours.

are you not in danger of putting your build date back even further by adding these on at such a late date?

Any VW dealership should be able to sort you with this. You dont even have to spec it at the build stage, can be done at any point after pick up as a dealer fit accessory, well worth the money if you do a bit of motorway driving.

Good point.... the way the build dates are anyway... nitemare

I don't see the point of the shadow wheels or the criuse control.  The rest is all good - £35 isn't a lot and the flat tyre indicator can never be a negative spec.

Rolfe.

The ACC is a must have, the others are just nice, but not essential.

I haven't actually driven a car with ACC so can't comment.

I would personally order it on 17s and put the money towards 19s.

Cruise control is great and well worth the money.

Lux pack is not important.

Sunroof is a nice option but the money could be better spent on RCD510 and Dynaudio.

Don't get the TPM. You should know yourself when you have a soft tyre! Spend the £35 on a nice set of mats.

As said before though you do risk putting your build week back even more by changing the spec.

Snoopy, your surname isn't Gould by any chance?
Maybe you should think about whether to change from blue to Steel Grey? Or White? Or Black? Red's nice too....

1) ACC Adaptive chassis control - Yes
2) 18" monza shadows - Yes
3) Cruise control - Yes
4) Luxury pack - Yes
5) Sunroof - No
6) Tire presure monitor - No

Cruise control is like a dishwasher, if you've never had one it will seem pointless. But for those who've had a dishwasher wouldn't ever go without one again...

Personally, I wouldn't ever buy a car that DOESN'T have cruise. The usual 'motorway miles' excuse is rubbish, I use it everywhere.

I find it useful when out in Europe or here in an average speed limit area or when driving at night. Everywhere else there's too much traffic for me to be bothered to keep switching it on and off all the time. Plus on a long run I get better mpg without using it.

        I'm the opposite!

Where the law doesn't allow, or there's no point in hard acceleration (i.e. just about all motorways around me at peak times ), I whack on the cruise and relax.

There's not much extra return in MPG terms, but I think the difference in comfort makes it worth it.

Each to their own, I guess :afro:

Thanks for all the replys

are you not in danger of putting your build date back even further by adding these on at such a late date?
Its one of the things i have asked.
At this present time for my car, I now don't even have a provisional build week anymore!!! This is something you normally get within 3 weeks of ordering not over 3 months.
At the end of the day if it delays it a bit longer i can put up with it as it may get winter over with at this rate  As it is looking like March anyway

Snoopy, your surname isn't Gould by any chance?

Nope  Colour is set, i have asked about colour in the past though

Personally i find cruise control can be borderline dangerous when on the motorways. Since there is no radar distance control (for uk spec cars) you can find yourself approaching the backs of other vehicles all too quickly.

Relaxing too much at speed is a bad thing!!

1) ACC Adaptive chassis control
2) Xenons
3) Cruise control
4) Luxury pack
5) Sunroof
6) Tyre presure monitor
7) metallic paint.

Bold ones were on original order,

Well it was everything on the above list, well it was until today   Now its just 2 and 7 again.
I told him to hold off as we are in dispute over the VAT rise and who pays it.
I ordered in August and it seems some of the orders VW are paying the increase with conditions, others the dealer is picking up the bill. It seems my 'dealer' wants me to contact VW and see what they say, Then get it in writing.

Errr, no...

Unless you've actually contractually committed to this dealer, I'd politely tell him he won't be the beneficiary of the thick end of your £25k and walk away.

They can't be ar$ed to make one call on your behalf? That's terrible...

Snoopy

You really are getting the rough end of the stick, not only have you been messed around with your build week, but now they have the audacity to ask YOU to phone VW!

Their treatment of you smacks of gross disrespect and I reckon you should consider telling them where to go!! At the very least they ought to offer to pay your VAT increase.

Go get em man

If im truthful it nearly came to that today before i posted this. But then i though i loose £787.50 and they get the benefit of a build slot they can use to there advantage.
I still might do this yet im on the edge and i feel im getting nowere.

You shouldn't loose your £787.50 (assuming this is the deposit), as on the terms of sale, they would have agreed to deliver your car on a certain date (which I'm guessing has now passed),and if they haven't delivered it within 21 days of that date, you can write to them requesting the car is delivered within the next seven days, if they fail to do that as well, you can cancel the order and have your deposit returned.

This is in clause 3b and 4 of my terms of sale, i imagine yours would be them same.  You can tell I've thought about cancelling a few times.

Still no confiirmed build date. I haven't even asked about the VAT issue.

All it says in the terms and conditions are
"All deposits are non refundable"
"we anticipate that your vehicle will be available for delivery by end Nov, early Dec subject to no factory delays"

All legal contracts are subject to the 'test of reasonableness'.

In my opinion, taking nearly £800 off you and not delivering the car after six months is not 'reasonable'.

At least you should be jumping up and down about the VAT issue, upgraded wheels or something that'll sweeten the deal?

Can you actually list what you would like in a letter in compensation if they will give you any  :undecided: as i would love them to pay the vat and maybe the sunroof as compo? other things other people have been offered like hire car etc does not appeal to me. but i know that the option i would have liked to add the most is the sunroof and i know i will miss it.
Basically the sunroof i find lets air flow better in summer at present with our other VW we have to crack the window to get the same effect. Much easier and less noisy with a sunroof. Also meens i can leave it on the drive with it open too reduce the temp, without the hoodies going by noticing too much.
