Title: Golf GTi Newbee
Post by: MattCan77 on 28 November 2009, 20:32
Hi all. I am a proud new owner of a Mk3 Gti 8v. My first Golf, and I love it. I would like to talk to other Mk3 owners to ask about tips on how to look after my new motor.

Please feel free to contact me on messenger.

I also can't upload my pics to the site. For some reason when I try to add an image it just inserts the following text?!? (http://)

Not a 16v, tis an 8v with some changes.

Next week it's gonna be 1 year since I've had it. Planning on having it one more year then might turn to the diesel side  Or the dark jap side  :lipsrsealed:

Front fogs are on the headlight switch. It pulls out once for front fogs and then pulls out more for rear fogs.     Cheers     Deano

no, factory exhaust on GTI is a twin exit, but it's more discreet, it is mild steel rather than stainless and it doesn't stick out of the bumper.

To turn fogs off you pull the light switch out when the sidelights or the headlights are on. Pull it out one click for fronts, and another click for rear.

De badged is aftermarket, they all came with a badged grill.

It dont have front fogs then cos it only comes out on click. I have lenses where the fogs should be. So looks like I should have them, but dont!! Strange!

So somebody would have removed the rear golf and gti badges?!?!? whats the point

Maybe you got dummy fogs. Have they got a bulb inside? if so then they should work. Not sure about the 1 click only, maybe on non front fog models they had only one click, but I would have thought they all had 2 clicks, weather the fogs were connected or not was a different matter.

Some people prefer De-badged look, hence why the badges are most likely gone.

When you gently pull the switch outwards does it click twice or once?? My first GTi had no front fogs and this one does. As for the badge could be that the previous owner preferred no badges to prevent boy racers challenging him all the time or as a deterrent to thick thieves....or could be some robbing b**tard  just nicked it!!!!!!!      Cheers     Deano

Definately only has one click. I like the debadged look. Like you say Deano stops chavs in their Saxo VTR's having a pop at me

Although I have the 8v in 3rd to 5th gear it really pulls away.

The only problem I have with it at the moment is when I reverse there is a clicking sound. Like a loud tap.

Ant ideas fella's??
