Title: central locking gremlins
Post by: koomey on 28 November 2009, 12:34
Hi guys
Having a problem with central locking on my 1996 mk3 gti 8v.
The drivers door will unlock, but the passenger side, boot and petrol cap all stay locked. The windows also go up and down with turn of the key on drivers door.
Ive had a look at fuses, all seem fine. Whats next step? Central locking pump ? Cant hear it when you turn the key.
If its the pump, where is it ? Sorry bit of a novice im afraid.
Need to get this sorted asap cos im going to run out of petrol very shortly.

Many Thanks in advance

Andy

i'd say definately central locking pump. it's located in the boot. in regards to your window issue. turn the key in the other direction

new owner of car says water had somehow got into motor ??!
he had to drive about with unlocked boot and petrol cap for a while.
he replaced motor and that done the job

they are tubes not wires + if there is a sp[lit in them it will let the vacuum leak

I think you can remove the whole pin thing that locks your fuel flap from inside the boot so at least you can put fuel in.

so good to have central locking again especially as the key doesnt fit the lock in the boot.
