Title: Having problems starting my 18 20v T ????
Post by: craigy on 28 November 2009, 10:36
Hi all i was wondering if anyone had any advice for me a few months ago mt golf burnt a valve i rebuilt it and ever since it will not start on 1st turn over then it will usually backfire then will start 80% of the time on the 2nd crank over( wen the fuel pump seems to build pressure) i have changed the fuel pump even.Eventually when it fires up it starts very slow and lazy. I did make a mistake wen building it again by mixing the the petrol pipes (timing belt side) my inlet manifold/intercooler was filled up with petrol. I was told it could be the timung so i striped it and timed it by the haynes manual 100% but i still have the same prob it has been pluged in to a few computers its saying camshaft sensor circuit input low so i have changed the camshaft sensor aswell but still the same the fault code is (PO3011) on a snap on computer as soon as the car fires up it seems to be running 100% it also seems to be harder to start wen cold no one seems to have a clue wot it could be

cheers any help id be gratefull

hi i had the same problem with my golf gti t, turned out to be the timing, on the chain. Take ur rocker cover off and make sure the timing marks line up on the cams, hope it helps

sounds like timing tbh, as even with a new sensor it still throws up the same code. and it would explain poor starting.
