Title: mk2 engine into mk3? URGENT ***

My 1.6 mk3 engine has died but its possible i can get hold of a 1.6 mk2 engine nice n cheap...is it possible to do a straight swap of these or not? or even to stick in a 1.8gti mk2 engine into the mk3?

The 1.6 will fit all ok, the 1.8 GTI is a load of hassle.

dosent the 1.6 come in big and small block flavors in the mk3

Yes but as per dan post it will need to be a big block 1.6.
