My Carbon Grey GTD has just been dropped off.
No optional extras apart from the metallic paint, but after getting the go ahead from my boss to order it last month the lease company we use had this one coming in so I'd rather have it in a few weeks rather than several months.
Just need to source an RNS 510 to plonk in the dash and I'm happy.
Itching for 5pm to arrive so I can drive it home.

We parked next to a GTD yesterday actually, first one I've seen. Quite nice for a sport diesel (shame it doesnt have the separated twin exhaust of the GTI). Looks even better with Monzas (which the one I saw didn't have).
-
enjoy it in the very best of health

Enjoy

Enjoy the GTD, they look awesome!
I'm trying one out tomorrow, to help me decide between that or the GTi.

Is there not a rule on this forum that when a new car arrives, photos must be provided?
-
Yep, or you get banned, simple as :D

-

Some people just won't give diesels a chance but they are great cars.
Get her cleaned at the weekend then get pics up.
Enjoy it too.

I've just traded my s3 in for one too. I was lucky enough to stumble across one in my local dealers which was perfect for me. Its a 3 door pretty much standard in White with the 18" alloys.
-
Hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine
-
I'll get some pics up and a mini review once i get it washed and waxed at the weekend. But anyhow so far its all good.
-
Nice one, most of all have loads of fun
-
Enjoy
Ditto

Cheers all,
I know the diesel isn't everybody's cup of tea. For me it was to save a few quid on company car tax and fuel costs.
I'm not fussed - This is my 4th car since passing test in 2005, the previous 3 being a 1.4 Clio, 1.6 8v Astra and 1.6 Zafira so in comparison to my previous cars the GTD absolutely flies.
I'll get it washed over the weekend and post some pictures.

Take no notice of them. I'd have been just as happy with a GTD as a GTI. Once re-mapped they both deliver the goods.

"GET IT WASHED"!!!!!!!!!!! what do you mean GET IT WASHED???!!!!!!! If you let anyone near that new car other than your good self with plenty of kit or a pro valeter you will be sent to coventry on here!
-
Its a company car who gives a rats ass who cleans it
-
I use a couple of guys who've set up a valeting service on the forecourt of a closed down garage near me. OK, they use Brillo pads and washing up liquid, and they don't speak much English, but they're cheap

That colour fools me everytime, it often looks metallic black ie your 1st photo.
-
Very nice. Best colour by miles
-
I quite like the interior on the GTD it is nicely subtle, very nice car.
-
Very Nice  Hows its drive? Mines supposed to be coming on Wednesday  and I'm driving it in my sleep at the mo!!
-
Looks fantastic - enjoy in good health!
-
Got my GTD today as well. After a wait of 18 weeks!!
Only done about 30 miles in it and absolutely love it already
Goes really well, even 'running it in' and looks the biz in candy white.
Also surprised at how different it is to the mk5, I was thinking there would be hardly any difference!
Hope anyone else waiting hangs on, its well worth it.
-
Enjoy Jimbo! Pics pics pics we need pics........ Especially in white!
-
Yes SquirrelGTI, will try and put some pics on tomorrow.......and drive round any dirty puddles till then!!

very nice!! i prefer the back of the GTD to the GTI if i am honest :lipsrsealed: :undecided:
-
although I've ordered the Gti, I think the subtlety of the GTD adds an extra element of understated class missing from the Gti - the Gti is a great car but I do like the GTD - I prefer the twin exhausts sitting together as opposed to the Gti layout - I've ordered carbon grey and, seeing your pics, I'm pleased.
-
Have to say that having seen photos of the GTD in Carbon Grey I would have ordered that instead of Steel Grey.
-
steel grey looks good too, Alan, but i think the carbon grey gives the car a more substantial look, a bit more 'gravitas' (perhaps that's a bit dramatic) - steel grey, carbon grey....all the colours....they all look good (otherwise VW wouldn't have offered them - these cars are adverts on the road)
-
Ive had the pleasure of one of these today, just 200 miles on the clock. 170bhp but stick shift, which was the only downer for me compared to the DSG im used to.
Great car though

Thats cus i am Alan , now be off with you Peasant

-
What's the pickup like Phil compared to your motor?
-
Quite smooth, but obviously the accelaration with the DSG i prefer as i find you can mash the throttle and the car can get the power down without wheel bounce or hop if your over zelous with the clutch/accelarator in the manual.
Personally think the GTD with DSG would be a great allrounder if im honest, thats quick, effecient, and easy to drive/live with.
At a recent RR day, i had a fellow Gti Pirelli thats a Manual gearbox , at the same state of tune/same 300bhp, tried following over the B roads and couldnt keep up without very bad traction.
-
Had the car 2 weeks, new tyre needed already
Noticed a slow puncture this week, rear driver's side. Took it to a guy I use locally, he took the wheel off and there's a nail on the inside of the tyre, right on the edge where the tread finishes onto the side wall so it can't be fixed. Grrr.
