I currently have a RCD510 which has a DAB radio and the Dynaudio upgrade.
When I switch on the unit, it says all the welcome to vw palava but at the right hand side it also has the dynaudio icon.
My questions..
- Is the unit picking up the Dynaudio update and displaying it, or is that programmed into the unit so if I replace with the RNS510 I'll loose this icon ?
- I think this has been covered, but I assume I cant take the DAB unit out of my RCD510 and use in the RNS510
- Finally, Is it possible to get an RNS510 with a DAB button ? i have never seen a unit with this.
Ta.

Please tell me you don't want to listen to Absolute Crap

Kev, sorry I can only answer one or two of your questions - the RNS510 isn't available with DAB so you would lose it. There are two versions of the RCD510, one with a DAB tuner built in.
As these radios use Windows CE operating system, I'd expect the start up screen image to be part of the software loaded on the radio unit itself. Whether a version with the Dynaudio logo can be added to an RNS by a VW dealer, I don't know for sure but I'd assume so as you can buy the RNS with Dynaudio.

Thanks mac. So if a dealer can load this, what I'm loosing is the DAB radio. Hmm, I love the DAB radio

Thanks guys.
I still have no idea what Absolute is. :embarassed:

As far as Dynaudio goes it will probably interface fine with the amp and if not you can probably code it with vag-com or whatever its called these days. You might not get the logo though...
Try vwnavi.com and see if anyone there has done the retrofit.

i may be talkin rubbish but, even though RNS510's are £500ish on fleabay which is a serious mark down agreed, but isn't that still a shed load of cash for sat nav? i know it has other features apart from playing dvd's, but is it really worth the hastle if you already have RCD? Get an ipod touch and download yer movies!

Modifying your car is not about the hassle, it's about the challenge, effort and satisfaction involved in achieving a good result. Anyone can order a car from a dealer - but it takes skill and intelligence to successfully improve one.

It's not £500 for a sat nav. Its £500 for an RCD510, SatNav, DVD playback, 30GB Hard drive and so on. Say I get £300-ish for my RCD510 thats a pretty good upgrade for a couple of hundred quid. Then over time I will add the fiscon kit and digital tv to it. For me thats not a hassle thats something I'm looking forward to, but really dont want to loose my DAB.
I did the ipod and download movies to it like years ago, I'm waaay past that.

There are radio stations between Radio 1 and Radio 5 Live?
How bizarre...
-
Radio 5? That's the one that only broadcasts for the last week in June and the first week in July, isn't it?
