i have a mk3 golf cabriolet and the car runs fine enough but at junctions etc. as soon as i put clutch in the revs dip and car splutters and stalls. I tried the carb cleaner trick a while ago and did ease the problem slighty but i think it is more too it than this. im pretty lame with cars so any info would be much appreciated. thankyou

Hi Mate I have had the same problem recently with my 8v GTi. Take a look at my link "Name that part" in the Mark 3 section. I removed the plug connector from the carbon cannister and have been driving the car for the last few days with it unplugged and it's been great, faster and no cutting out and the revs drop to a normal level when I dip the clutch. There is a pic in my link and this may help or may not. I have been advised in the link to clean the air intake pipes and the throttle body which I will try this weekend. Hope this helps Cheers Deano

Check the pipe from the rocker cover to the oil filter and airbox isn't blocked or split
