Hi guys,
I'm about to change the pump this week as my old one died, as far as new fluid goes a friend of mine has enough of this spare,
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&partNumber=575159&langId=-1
that I'd be able to get for free. Anyone got any experience of using it in a MK2? According to Halfrauds site it's Dexron II compatiable so should be alright, just wanted to check really so I can save a few pennies :)

Depends on the colour cap on your reservoir.
Red is Dex II ATF
-
Yep got a red cap on it, and the stuff that's in it (and all over my drive) is red too. Just wondered how the Halfrauds stuff will work, guessing it'll be fine though?
-
what if its a green cap?
-
I think that means you'll need the VW stuff that MK3's use? I believe that it's a bit thinner, but I really don't know for sure, that's why I'm asking about mine lol!

thinner stuff is a green hydraulic oil as used in suspension and that on citroens.. its a mineral instead of synth

Geek.

If the stuff in the link is dexron II then its fine, it does say its auto transmission oil?
They deffo do dexron II ATF though, my mk2 has been using the halfords dexron ii oil for years.

It just says PAS fluid, but in the questions section it says it's a Dexron II based product so should be fine in that use. Just not sure how much I trust Halfrauds....

I'd just pop into your local store and read the back of the bottle :)
