Title: Rear View Camera Change - week 45?
Post by: HA54SYM` on 22 November 2009, 08:18: I'm assumming reading this on the German forum, that the rear view camera postion has changed from the rear badge to the number plate light postion?

It's such a quirky feature - I don't know why they'd change it?

I noticed after washing mine the other day, the camera picture had all but disappeared, however it was back to normal the next time I was out in the car.

Post by: Exonian on 22 November 2009, 10:11: The one in the badge is a nice gimmick and in a good location but I can see it being troublesome. Don't blame VW for moving it. Perhaps it ought to come with it's own little diddy windscreen wiper? :cool:

Its probably the scirocco one as the boot badge is different on the scirocco.

You can also buy aftermarket ones that fit in similar locations (half numberplate light half camera)

My money would be on its a scirocco.

It may be a gimmick to some but having used it for a month or so now, I would always want to spec it on future cars.
Its a great added feature.

Post by: Jimble on 22 November 2009, 11:18: I don't think that image is the boot lid of a golf, more likely a golf plus or golf estate. The shaded area next to the camera is the boot release button found on these type of cars. See Here

i may be wrong but if the golf were to be like that it would mean a complete rear end redesign, and i don't think vw are likely to spend that kind of cash!

There are two versions of the RCD510, only one has the video in connector required. It appears that only cars with the factory fitted RVC have this version, you would need to check the rear of your RCD for the video connector

Good link. They do a reverse camera for our Passat too, if upgrade to a RCD510 - cool.

Sorry I'm dead nosey, are these notifications for dealers only or is joe public able to subscribe to them (daft question I guess, but with car on order turning paranoid and obsessive about wanting to see \ follow changes).

Dealer only but they do leak out. Also if you ask your dealer they are suppose to tell you what if any changes effect you.
